2020 ISGA Speedgolf World Championships
In a bid to host the sport’s premier global event outside the USA for the first time since its inception in 2012, the International Speedgolf Alliance proudly awarded Japan Speedgolf Association hosting rights for the 2020 ISGA Speedgolf World Championships.
The biennial championship, last held in Verona, New York in October 2018, was scheduled to be held in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture, at the Sunny Country Club on November 21st and 22nd, 2020. The world’s top ranked players representing more than 10 countries were preparing to compete for the coveted title of Speedgolf World Champion in a 36 hole individual stroke play format.
Unfortunately, over the last few months the entire world has been deeply affected by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the novelty of the virus, the global nature of the event, and without the ability guarantee the safety and security of all participants, in close coordination with the ISGA, Japan Speedgolf Association has made the difficult yet prudent decision to postpone the championship until November of 2021. While the venue is expected to remain the same, dates have not yet been finalized. The ISGA will make an announcement as soon as more details are available.
On behalf of Japan Speedgolf Association, we greatly appreciate the understanding and support of the global Speedgolf community, and look forward to a safe return of the ISGA Speedgolf World Championships in Japan in 2021.
Sincerely
Scott Dawley | President – ISGA
